Opening Ceremony of Confucius Classroom at Riga No.34 Secondary School
September 29th, 2017, Riga No.34 Secondary School Confucius Classroom Opening Ceremony was held in Latvia Riga No.34 Secondary School. Chinese Embassy in Latvia Li Tao Counselor, Riga No.34 Secondary School’s Director Ms. Natalia Rogaleva, Member of the Ministry of Education of the City of Riga, the directors of Confucius institute at University of Latvia Professor Shang Quanyu and Professor Peteris Pildegovics, Representatives of Chinese teachers volunteers, Riga No.34 Secondary School’s teachers and students, Xinhua News Agency and Latvian television and other media representatives nearly 100 people attended the opening ceremony.
Before the opening ceremony, we gathered in the big hall to watch theatrical performances. A cheerful “little world” opened the prelude to the show. Subsequently, Ms. Natalia Rogaleva, Riga No.34 Secondary School’s Director, delivered a speech. She mentioned the purpose of the Confucius Classroom. “The opening of the Confucius Classroom is a very important activity for our school, because we want to introduce Chinese culture to young people, to stimulate their interest in Chinese culture and language, so that they want to know more about this beautiful country. ”
Counselor Li Tao of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia said in his speech that “learning and mastering Chinese is very necessary for our students studying Chinese in Riga No.34 Secondary School, and the embassy wants to see more students learn Chinese and become sinologist in the future. We should provide the talent, reserve the talent for the rapid development of China-Latvia relations.” Beautiful expectations also aroused everyone’s resonance, which made the audience applause.
Subsequently, the directors of Confucius institute at University of Latvia Professor Shang Quanyu and Professor Peteris Pildegovics were made a speech. They reviewed the achievements of the Riga No.34 Secondary School Chinese course and congratulated the establishment of the Confucius Classroom and expressed their gratitude for the strong support of Riga No.34 Secondary School and the community. Subsequently, representatives of several ministries of education and schools also made speeches.
After the end of theatrical performances, everyone took a big photo. Subsequently, the guests follow the pace of the host moved to the door of the Confucius Classroom, Riga No.34 Secondary School’s Director Natalia Rogaleva and the Chinese Embassy in Latvia Li Tao Counselor unveiled for the Riga No.34 Secondary School Confucius Classroom.
After the opening ceremony, we visited the Chinese classroom, Riga No.34 Secondary School’s Chinese teacher Evita Kalme and volunteer teacher Wu Wei introduced to everyone about the classroom design, then the principal presented fine gifts to the guests. The event ended in a happy and relaxed atmosphere.
