Chinese Ambassador to Latvia Tang Songgen visited Ventspils University of Applied Sciences

On July 25, Chinese Ambassador to Latvia Tang Songgen visited Ventspils University of Applied Sciences (VUAS) to learn about Chinese language teaching and discuss future communication and cooperation with the University. The Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, Dr. Vairis Caune, the Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Dr. Janis Vucans, the Deputy Head of the Study Department, Mrs. Liga Koloda, the Head of the Marketing Department Mrs. Inta Ozola, and some Chinese learners attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the event, Dr. Vairis Caune briefly introduced VUAS and led a short tour of the campus. Ambassador Tang had a cordial conversation with the Chinese learners and watched the graduation video of 2022-2023 Chinese teaching. The students also actively interacted with the ambassador introduced themselves in Chinese and talked bravely, and expressed their strong interest in Chinese learning and Chinese culture, which left a deep impression on the Ambassador.

Ambassador Tang Songgen expressed his support for the resumption of cooperation between Ventspils and Ningbo Universities and emphasized that Ningbo and Ventspils are sister cities.

当地时间7月25日下午，中国驻拉脱维亚大使唐松根受邀访问文茨皮尔斯应用科技大学，了解中文教学情况、探讨未来交流合作。计算机科学学院瓦里斯院长、经济管理学院雅尼斯教授、学习部负责人里加女士、市场部负责人音塔女士以及部分中文爱好者参加此次会见。

活动伊始，瓦里斯院长简单介绍了文茨皮尔斯应用科技大学的发展历程和未来规划，并带领大使一行参观了校园。随后，唐大使与中文学习者亲切对话，并观看了2022-2023学年中文教学结业视频。学生们也积极与大使互动，用中文进行自我介绍并勇敢交谈，表达了对中文学习和中国文化的浓烈兴趣，给大使留下了深刻印象。

唐松根大使表示，文茨皮尔斯与中国宁波是姐妹城市，大使馆将对疫情后恢复与宁波大学的交流合作提供支持与帮助，同时也将继续助力文茨皮尔斯应用科技大学的中文教学。
