At 15:00 Riga time on November 29, 2023, Ambassador Tang Songgen and Director Zhang Zeyang of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia visited the headquarters of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia. The Latvian Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, Prof. Peteris Pidegovics, the Chinese Director, Prof. He Dong, the Head of the Center for International Relations, Mrs. Ilze Garda, the Director of the Academic Library, Mrs. Venta Kocere, and the Deputy Director, Mr. Jānis Ezers, as well as the teachers of the Confucius Institute, Anastasija Galkina, Tang Jing, Hu Shirong, and Madara Smalkā, also took part in the event.

Before the book presentation ceremony, Ambassador Tang had a friendly conversation with the participants. Ambassador Tang Songgen said that the Embassy will, as always, fully support the cause of Chinese education and cultural exchanges in Latvia, provide learning conditions for students who love Chinese language and culture, and promote friendly cultural exchanges between China and Latvia. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia, Ambassador Tang Songgen donated 400 selected books to the Academic Library, covering Chinese history, culture, economy and science and technology. Then, Ambassador Tang Songgen and his delegation visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and recognized the conditions of the Confucius Institute. Finally, the ambassador and the two directors exchanged views on the development of the Confucius Institute.

This activity added impetus to the development and growth of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, and also added more cultural resources to the University of Latvia.

里加时间2023年11月29日15:00，中国驻拉脱维亚大使馆唐松根大使及张泽阳主任，莅临拉脱维亚大学孔子学院本部访问。拉脱维亚大学孔子学院拉方院长贝德高、中方院长何东、国际关系中心负责人Ilze Garda、学术图书馆馆长Venta Kocere、副馆长Jānis Ezers，以及孔院的安娜、唐静、胡诗蓉、马笑笑等教师也参加了活动。

在赠书仪式前，唐大使同与会人员进行了友好交谈。唐大使表示，大使馆将一如既往地全力支持拉脱维亚的中文教育事业和文化交流，为喜爱中国语言和文化的学生提供学习条件，促进中拉文化友好交流。唐大使代表中国驻拉脱维亚大使馆，向学术图书馆捐赠400册精选图书，涵盖中国历史、文化、经济与科技等众多领域。接着，唐大使一行参观了拉脱维亚大学孔子学院本部，对孔院的办学条件加以肯定。最后，大使和两位院长就孔院的发展等话题进行了交流和探讨。

此次活动为拉脱维亚大学孔子学院的发展壮大增添了动力，也为拉脱维亚大学增添了更多的文化资源。
