Directors From Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia had a talk about inauguration of Confucius Classroom and construction matters in Rezekne
Local time on October 3, Chinese Director and Latvian director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof. Peteris. Pildegovics and Chinese teacher Ms. Dong Fang, secretary Ms. Laura paid a visit to Rezekne Higher Education Institution，which located in northeastern of Latvia，Rezekne.

The meeting mainly discussed about the inauguration of the Confucius Classroom of Rezekne Higher Education Institution in May, 2016 and Confucius Classroom construction activities and other related matters. On September 20, 2015, Chinese teaching center in Rezekne Higher Education Institution was upgraded officially to the Confucius Classroom by Hanban / Confucius Institute Headquarters, which is the third Confucius Classroom of Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia
Prof. Peteris. Pildegovics first thanked Rezekne Higher Education Institution’s support for Chinese language teaching for the pass two years, and congratulated to the Chinese teaching center becoming a Confucius Classroom. Then, Prof. Peteris. Pildegovics explained Confucius Classroom construction requirements and conditions, hoping Rezekne Higher Education Institution can provide dedicated classrooms and offices for the Chinese teaching as soon as possible, and add Chinese courses to Credit System electives. Chinese Director Prof. Shang pointed out that after the establishment of the Confucius Classroom, Hanban will not only inject some funds to help the school to organize some activities about Chinese language and culture, but also donate a number of Chinese books to the school every year. If there is a Chinese book corner of Confucius Classroom in the school library, it will be a better chance for the students in Rezekne Higher Education Institution know more about Chinese language and culture. Prof. Shang also hoped that after the establishment of Confucius Classroom in Rezekne Higher Education Institution, there will be more outstanding Chinese learners in the future, while they pass the HSK test, they can apply for a scholarship to go to China for further study.
Prof. Edmunds listened to the two directors carefully, he expressed his gratitude to the directors’ efforts to help the Chinese teaching center in Rezekne Higher Education Institution became a Confucius Classroom and promised school will be well preparing for the opening ceremony of Confucius Classroom next year and related construction work, so that Chinese teaching in the Rezekne Higher Education Institution will be better and better.
Finally, Ms. Dong Fang introduced the summer camp programs— trip to China ,which organized by Hanban, the summer camps held each year during the summer holidays, there will be Chinese teachers who leading the students to enjoy the two-week cultural experience in China tour, she hoped there will be Chinese learners in Rezekne Higher Education Institution enroll in this very meaningful summer camp next year .
