The Anniversary of Chinese National Day Show Successfully Held in Riga No.34 Secondary School

Local time at 11:30 on October 7th in Latvia, the sixty-six anniversary of Chinese National Day show successfully held in Riga No.34secondary school, which is one of the teaching locations of Confucius Institute at Latvia University. The show lasted for one hour, and the Chinese volunteer teacher in the school attended.

At the beginning of this show, the host gave a general introduction of China and the origin of Chinese National Day. After the People’s Republic of China national anthem played, the show began. There are varieties of programs, such as Chinese tongue twister, melodious Chinese songs chorus and a lovely Child’s song, Ni Wawa. Beyond that, the local Chinese teacher introduced Shanghai in Chinese fluently, while some students, dressing in colorful traditional cheongsam, danced cha-cha with old Shanghai music. Even there was a student who sang 朋友(Friends), quoted the classical words from the Analects of Confucius, “知之者不如好之者,好之者不如乐之者” which means “People who know it are no better than those who love it, while those who love it are no better than the ones who love to know it.” to express her enthusiasm for Chinese.

Besides that, the show also gave the introduction of famous cities in China, which seemed to take us to travel around Tian’anmen Square, Temple of Heaven, National Stadium in Beijing, Super Computer Center in Tianjin, Shanghai Oriental-pearl Tower, the Bund in Shanghai and Victoria Harbor in Hong Kong. Everybody had great enjoyment of programs as well as they learned a lot about Chinese Culture.

The show ended with joy and happiness. After the show, the teachers and students took photos with each other and communicated pleasantly. Not only did this show present the Chinese-Level of students in Riga 34 Secondary School, but also promote the communication between China and Latvia, giving people a chance to have deeper understanding of Chinese language and culture.
