A Sweet Dream with Chinese ——Chinese Evening Party was held in Confucius Classroom at Riga Cultures Secondary School Successfully
On 23rd of November, with the first snow arriving at Riga this winter, the curtain of Chinese Evening Party in RigaCulturesSchool was opened. After 3-month preparation, this performance was finally on the stage as one of the series of activities of “Confucius Day”.
At 18:00pm, about 60 guests got together in the hall including two directors of Confucius Institute, principle and teachers of school, students and their friends and some social people. Principle Ms. Linda made a speech at first; she praised the achievements of Chinese teaching these 3 years since the set-up of Confucius Classroom program and appreciated the attention and support from Confucius Institute. Directors of Confucius Institute, Prof. Shang and Prof. Pildegovics then addressed a speech together, they said, the Confucius Classroom at Riga Cultures School is the first Confucius Classroom in Latvia, teachers and students made brilliant achievements with great efforts. There are more and more excellent students with good Chinese level from this school. They made a good wish about this performance and the Confucius Classroom.
The first performance was showed by competition with 2 groups competing their knowledge about Chinese language, culture, tongue twister, poem and song, which are what they learned in during class. And then two students who joined summer camp and Chinese Bridge Competition made presentations to share the experience in China; two students introduced what is Taiji to the guests with interesting presentation. After the presentation part, students with teacher played Taiji. Next, students showed Chinese calligraphy on stage. The most brilliant part is short play <The Hare and the Tortoise>, which led prolonged applause. At the end, all of the students sang the song <Friends> together which represents their friendship and good wish to each other. With the end of music, student representative offered the present to two directors of Confucius Institute. Prof. Pildegovics expressed the appreciation to the efforts students and teachers made.
After the evening party, the guests spoke highly of the brilliance of performance; students expressed that their enthusiasm and confidence was aroused by this opportunity and desire for more activity like this event.
