The concert about China and India in humanities faculty of University of Latvia
Local time at 4:00pm on December 5th ,2015, The concert about China and India had been held in humanities faculty of University of Latvia. Before the concert, director of Chinese and Indian center in humanities faculty, Agita hosted the concert and gave a brief introduction to the programs. The concerts was divided into two parts: one was Chinese songs, Chinese opera and musical instruments; the other was traditional Indian dance and musical instruments.
At first, Huang Rui and Yuan Yu, Chinese volunteer teachers, sang two Chinese songs: one was classic Yue Opera, Tian shang diao xia ge lin mei mei; the other was popular folk song, Shan ge hao bi chun jiang shui. The two teachers showed their sweet voice, pleasant smile and tacit cooperation, which made the whole atmosphere active and relaxed. Then Riga local Chinese, Ms. Wang Dan played Guzheng and Guqin, the traditional Chinese musical instruments. The audience listened to the music from ancient China carefully and gave continuous applause in the end of music. Two Latvian sinologists introduced Chinese music history, Guqin and related knowledge. Professor Frank made a deep analysis to Guqin from the perspective of poetry and literary, which let the audience have a full range of emotional and rational understanding.
After the intermission, an Indian dancer made a brief introduction about the Indian culture and danced. Then she invited Latvian experts to play a traditional Indian music.
There were numerous elements in the whole concert. Although the audience are from different countries and speak different languages, music shorten the distance and deepen understanding between each other. Actors’ wonderful performance bring the audience a visual feast.
