Tea culture lecture was held in Confucius classroom at Rezekne University
When asked “What’s your favorite drink,” the little Latvian girl Mara always blurts out: “I like drinking tea!especially drinking Chinese tea!” on December 9, 2015 of Latvia local time, Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University held a tea culture lecture, therefore this Latvian high school girl who had learned Chinese more than one year experienced a meaningful tea culture ceremony.
With the song “grandpa’s tea” sung by Jay Chou, the tea culture lecture began. Chinese volunteer teacher Liang Mingxuan first explained that tea is one of the world’s popular three drinks, while China is the birthplace of tea, with a long history dating back to ancient times, and reached to its top in Tang and Song Dynasties. When talked about the position of tea in Chinese people’s mind,she used ” With a cup of tea,relish the ups and downs in life ; With a peaceful heart,make you own future” to describe it, so the students understood deeply why Chinese people like to drink tea. Then, teacher Liang told the students about the classification of Chinese tea and China’s top ten famous tea, she passed various tea to everyone so that they could smell the differences of the tea leaves at the same time. Next, she not only talked about tea custom in various areas among China, but also talked about what kind of tea do people from other countries prefer to drink, therefore everyone had a better understanding about tea culture.
Before the tea ceremony, teacher Liang first played a video about the course of making tea, and everyone knew the name of the tea sets and the process of making tea. Later, she invited students to come to the stage to experience the process of making tea.
Jile,one student who had Learned Chinese for more than two years , inviting her husband to attend the tea culture lecture, the man had been working in China and he can speak Chinese very well,he really appreciated this kind of Chinese culture lecture, hoping that there will be more similar lectures about Chinese culture in the future.
Finally, everybody were tasting the Chinese tea with Latvia local biscuits and snacks in good moods, then the Chinese tea culture lecture came to an end.
