The second Chinese New Year cultural lecture held by Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University

Latvia local time at 13:40 on January 28th, 2016, the second Chinese New Year cultural lecture held by Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University started in theNo.5 school of Rezekne .

As the first lecture, Chinese volunteer teacher Liang Mingxuan first said hello to the students and teachers with “Happy Chinese New Year” in Chinese language, then she began to introduce Chinese traditional festival — Spring Festival.

After the introduction of the origin and customs of the Spring Festival, and watching the show “picturesque landscape” of the 2015 Spring Festival Gala , Tr. Liang took out the paper-cutting work, “Spring in the heart”, she explained the meaning of the Chinese character “Chun”, which means spring, that when your heart is filled with spring ,your heart is filled with hope. After that, she began to teach students and teachers how to make this paper-cutting ,and told them to write best wishes for the New Year.

At the end of this lecture, Tr. Liang gave everyone a paper printed with Chinese pinyin lyrics, and taught the audience to sing the Chinese song”Happy New Year” together. With Easy lyrics and light melody, soon all the people could sing this song.

With the beautiful melody ,the lecture came to an end. Many students expressed their appreciation of the Chinese culture and decided to become a Chinese learner.
