Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University held the ethnic and religion in China lecture

Latvia Local time at 9:45 on 22th,February, 2016,as for the invitation of Eastern Latvia high school of technology, the Chinese teacher in Confucius Classroom at Rezekne University gave a lecture about the ethnic and religion in China.

Chinese volunteer teacher Liang Mingxuan first showed the Chinese people’s identity card to the teachers and students , translated and told them in the Chinese people’s identity card, there are information about name, gender, date of birth and identity card number , while there is an important information—the ethnic. Why ethnic appears to be such an important information?With this question, she explained the reason. Since China is a multi-ethnic country, there are 56 ethnic groups in total, people of various ethnic groups unite , so comes the whole China. Each ethnic is an indispensable part of the Chinese nation. Next, she introduced Han people,  accounting for more than 90% of the nation’s population,and then following the five ethnic minorities autonomous regions, focusing on the Mongolian, Uygur, Zhuang, Tibetan, Hui this 5 ethnic groups.She demonstrated them from ethnic culture, clothing, housing construction, food, traditional festivals and other aspects in details. The second part of the lecture, she extended to the religions in China  from Tibetan Buddhism, Chinese Hui Muslim. Teachers and students then had a better understanding about the ethnic and religions culture in China.

This is the second Chinese culture lectures in Eastern Latvia high school of technology since Chinese New Year culture lecture last month. The teachers and students appreciated about these culture lectures, hoping that Chinese volunteer teacher can come to schools and give a series of Chinese culture lectures regularly.
