The Summary Meeting of the 13th Chinese Bridge Competition in Chinese Embassy in Latvia
Local time at 12:00am on April 16, 2016, the summary meeting of the 13th Chinese Bridge Competition had been held successfully in Chinese Embassy in Latvia. At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Huang Yong ,Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, Latvian sinologists, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, Latvian director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, Chinese teachers and Chinese volunteer teachers gathered in Chinese Embassy in Latvia.
H.E. Mr. Huang Yong ,Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, and Mr. Li Tao, Counselor at Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, warmly welcomed all of Latvian sinologists, directors of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia and Chinese teachers. Mr. Huang Yong gave an important address. He said, the competition scale and students’ levels had been greatly improved compared to the previous competitions, which was inseparable from everyone’s hard work. Meanwhile, he was so happy to see students’ wonderful performance and their love for Chinese and Chinese culture, which was an important affirmation for every Chinese teacher. In addition, he said that with the increasingly close relationship between China and Latvia, the exchanges between the two countries was not only reflected in economic cooperation, but also cultural exchanges. Especially the Confucius Institute at University of Latvia played an important role. Finally, he expected every teacher could make more progress.
Then, Professor Peteris Pildegovics ,Latvian director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia gave an address. He briefly reviewed the history of the Chinese Bridge competition. He thanked for Chinese government’s support and dedication to Chinese teachers. Professor Shang Quanyu, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, said, as the first country to teaching Chinese in the three Baltic countries, Latvia had successfully held 13 Chinese Bridge Competitions. He hoped that Chinese teaching in Latvia would be more vigorous in the future.
After meeting, Mr. Huang Yong said, Chinese Embassy was your home and you must taste the taste of home when you came back “home”. Chinese Embassy prepared food for everyone. In the course of lunch, Mr. Huang Yong and Mr. Li Tao had a cordial conversation with each other.
The whole meeting lasted about two hours in friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Everyone had full of confidence to the future of Chinese teaching in Latvia.
