The summer camp of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia was crowned with complete success
From 10th to 21st July, one leading teacher and twenty-two students from Confucius Institute at University of Latvia came to China, spending twelve days in Guangzhou and Beijing to study Chinese language and experience Chinese Culture. In addition, with great memorable and exciting feeling, they participated the opening ceremony of summer camp of Confucius Institute of sixteen countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
From 10th to 14th July, they have a very interesting trip in Guangzhou. In South China Normal University, Chinese language and culture course were prepared. Not only did students learn how to speak some Cantonese in daily talk, they also learnt how to do Tai Chi, weave Chinese knot, paint Chinese silk fan and Beijing Opera Facial Masks. Besides, students visited some famous scene and monument in Guangzhou. Walking alongside the pearl river, they have the most beautiful and glorious night view. Searching around Flower City Square and Beijing Road, they saw the modern side of Guangzhou. While they visited Lin Nan Park, watched the traditional stage and made pottery, they experienced the traditional culture of Guangzhou.
After Guangzhou’ trip, students went to Beijing. They went to visit HANBAN, walked around Summer Palace, the Palace Museum, Temple of Heaven, Tian’an men Square, and climbed the Great Wall, involving themselves in Chinese history. They also visited Olympics Park, where they can experience the youth and vigor of Beijing. In addition, they also made dumplings in dwellings, where there was cozy atmosphere for them to know the cultural meaning of dumplings well. On 19th July, students participated the opening ceremony of summer camp of Confucius Institute of sixteen countries in Central and Eastern Europe, which was presided by Latvian host, An Ze. In the ceremony, students gave the chorus show, “Friends”. And Ye Wa represented Latvia students to take part in the chorus show, “Singing and Smile”.
In this summer camp, students not only experienced the prosperity of Guangzhou and Beijing, and they also got the feeling of multi-nature in cultural forms. All of students said this is a unforgettable and valuable experience, which encouraged them to learn Chinese hard and devoted themselves to enhance the friendship between Latvia and China.
