How to apply for studies in Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia?

If applicant is underaged (under 18 years old), UL blank have to be filled about him. But more is asked to fill CI blank about one of the parents with whom will be signed a contract for studies in UL CI. This blank is needed to create a contract.

What you should know starting studies in CI?

Start of study year- September, place- Academic Library at University of Latvia (so called, Misina Libr.) at Rupniecibas street No. 10, on 4th floor.

About concrete time and classroom number will be sent in e-mail.

Teaching language- Chinese and English.

Study year is divided in 2 semesters, before every semester will be signed new contract with student/ student’s parent (UL students are free of charge, no contract is needed). After every semester is handed out UL certificate for listening of „Chinese language training (beg., adv. course)”. Requirements for getting certificate:

• 75% attendance
• Successfully passed semester’s final exam.
• Lesson is devided- 2 lessons of grammar, 2 culture lesson. But every teacher has its own method of training; about that will be talked in first lesson.
• UL students have right to get 4 credit points as for C course about these classes, showing UL handed certificate after semester.

CI provide with teaching tools (books, DVD, CD). On first lesson please bring writing materials and note book. At first lesson will be discussed further plan of studies, about materials- will they be given on lessons, or they will be scanned and sent by e-mail.

CI organize many culture activities,  we recommend to take part in it, as it gives great insight about China culture and traditions, and provide opportunity to meet with local chinese.

2 times in a year are organized HSK and HSKK exams (for students), which is requirement to get CI scholarship.

Can take part in CI organized summer camp.

UL CI supports our students’ participation in competitions and other activities organized by Embassy of China.

Study fee in UL CI per month:

30.25 EUR pupils/ other university students (other university students have to show notice from his school that he really is this school’s student)

67.76 EUR others

Free of charge- UL students (at this moment)

Discount:

50% discount for second and the rest under-aged children from one family

50% discount for 1st and 2nd group disabled persons.

Please notice: study fee have to be paid in start of every month. Fee is not given back only if have been shown notice from doctor about illness.
