016 Teachers’ Day Reception Was Held in Chinese Embassy in Latvia
Local time at 12:00am on September 10th, 2016, the reception of the 2016 Teachers’ Day had been held successfully in Chinese Embassy in Latvia. At the invitation of H.E. Mr. Huang Yong ,Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, Chinese teachers and Chinese volunteer teachers gathered in Chinese Embassy in Latvia.
H.E. Mr. Huang Yong ,Ambassador of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, and Mr. Li Tao, Counselor at Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, Mr. Zeng Fuhua, Consul at Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, Mr. Guo Haibo, Director of the political department at Embassy of People’s Republic of China in Latvia, warmly welcomed all of Latvian sinologists, directors of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia and Chinese teachers. At twelve people seated on time, the embassy prepared a sumptuous feast. Dining process was in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere, everyone here has done a self-introduction. After self-introduction, we talk about Prof. Peteris Pidegovics, Latvian-side Director of LUCI, had won the 10th Special Book Award of China, all of us have expressed heartfelt congratulations.
Mr. Huang Yong gave an important address. He said, China goes out to face the world, is taking the new “win-win cooperation” road. He established considerable progress made on the Fifth Anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, which is inseparable from the embassy and the Confucius Institute for all their hard work. In addition, he said that with the increasingly close relationship between China and Latvia, the exchanges between the two countries was not only reflected in economic cooperation, but also cultural exchanges. Especially the Confucius Institute at University of Latvia played an important role. Finally, he expected every teacher could make more progress, not only by teaching Chinese language, but also by stimulate public interest in learning Chinese, while stimulate students to enable students to stimulate their family members and neighbors, so that “Chinese fever” can carried forward!
Professor Shang Quanyu, Chinese director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, introduced in details and explained the corresponding activities and plans to celebrate the Fifth Anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia. The whole meeting lasted about two hours in friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Everyone had full of confidence to the future of Chinese teaching in Latvia.
