CILU participating 2016 Asian Cultural Festival
Latvia Local time on the 10th of September, 2016, the Asian Cultural Festival was held in the Congress Nama, which is located Riga, the capital city of Latvia. Prof. Shang Quanyu, Chinese-side Director of The Confucius Institute of Latvia University ,as well as Chinese teachers and volunteer Chinese teachers from LUCI were invited to the Festival.
In the afternoon, the hall of the Congress Nama was plenished with Oriental scents and flavours, the representatives from India, China, Sri Lanka, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Nepal and many other Asian countries showed the unique culture of their countries to the guests by different kinds of ways, like cuisines, tea ceremony, divination etc. Volunteer Chinese teachers from LUCI helped organizers to send leaflets of the Concert Gala. Besides, on behalf of the CILU, two volunteer Chinese teachers Zeng Qingjun and Panbin prepared a poem reciting about Tai Chi for the Concert Gala.
7:00pm is the time of the Concert Gala. The beginning show is a performance of GuQin – an ancient musical instrument from China by Mrs Dan Wang(China). And then Mrs Dan Wang performed another Chinese traditional musical instrument – GuZheng. Accompanied on the melodic background of GuZheng, the performers from Latvia showed a performance of Tai Chi to the audience. Artists from Oriental countries as well as Latvia performed sarod (India), daf and ney (Iran) and various percussions, delivering the audience closer to the mystery of the Silk Road. The last performance is presented by three artists Premal Madina, Larisa Podskochaya, and Kristina Luna. Their performance demonstrated an aesthetic wonder of choreography and the ultimate pursuit of beauty. At the end of the Concert Gala, audience roared with thunderous standing applause, lasting a long time.
The 2016 Asian Cultural Festival was successfully held. After the festival, volunteer Chinese teachers from LUCI helped the organizer to clean up the hall.
