Hilarious Lantern Festival

On Feb 11th, 2017, there was a Chinese Lantern Festival Gala with the theme “Hilarious Lantern Festival” breaking a new path in Latvia University. It was sponsored by LUCI. Mr. Li Tao, counsellor of Chinese Embassy, Mr. Guo qun, Ms.Li  Deping, Prof. Shang Quanyu, Chinese-side Director of LUCI and Prof. Peteris Pidegovics, Latvian-side Director of LUCI attended this ceremony. Mr. Li Tao stressed the cultural significance of celebrate traditional Chinese festival and it’s positive influence between two countries in his speech.

The gala lasted from 2PM to 4PM with various interesting games which includes Three-legged Relay Race, Tug-of-war, Kick Shuttlecock and so on. Almost 100 students from different schools in Latvia participate in this activity. It was divided into two parts: team and individual. After a fierce competition, Mr. Li Tao ,Prof. Shang and Prof. Peteris award for winners together. The activity was full of cheerful everywhere.

This “Hilarious Lantern Festival” activity set up a good platform, pull the audience under the stage into the center of the stage, Teachers and students together involved in this activity to create a good environment. Through this platform and opportunities, Different levels of Chinese learners in Latvia not only have the chance to exercise their spoken language skills, but also feel a Chinese traditional lantern festival atmosphere joyfully and cheerfully. To enhance the learning interest and add more deep understanding for traditional Chinese culture. This event would shorten the distance and promote friendship between people from two countries.
