Latvian Global Hotel Group Radisson Blu Takes the Lead to Learn Chinese, Confucius Institute at University of Latvia Holds a First-ever Lecture on Chinese Culture for It
Local time at 3:00 pm, April 4th , 2017, in Alpha room of Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & SPA Hotel, Confucius Institute at University of Latvia was invited to hold a Chinese culture lecture by the theme of “Hello China” for almost 100 employees from 4 Radisson Blu hotels in Latvia. This lecture is set up by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of China in Latvia.
With the economic and cultural influence growth of China in the world, China is promoting closer and closer exchanges with other countries. The Department of Tourism Management of global hotel group Radisson Blu was taken over by China’s HNA Group.Radisson Blu will put Chinese culture and language learning on their agenda.Promoted by the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of China in Latvia, the hotel is working with LUCI to hold a lecture on Chinese culture and plan for language courses later for the employees.
The lecture included 4 parts: general information, Chinese culture, Chinese language and business etiquette. The topics were diversified, ranging from geography, history and population of China to contemporary development; from Chinese diets to food culture; from national treasure Panda to Chinese totem dragon; from multi-dialects society to standard Mandarin; from cultural differences to practical etiquette. All the audiences were amazed by the high speed development and the diversification of Chinese culture while at the same time enjoyed great benefit from knowing more on communicating with Chinese. This lecture and Chinese courses in the future are believed to further assist in promoting the economic and cultural exchanges between China and Latvia.
This is the first cooperation between LUCI and company with global influence to popularize Chinese culture in Latvia. As Counsellor Liu once said, such kind of activity is to “facilitate culture exchange through business, and facilitate business through culture exchange”.
