Work conference and graduation ceremony held by Confucius Classroom at Daugavpils University
Latvia Local time May 30, 2017,Prof. Shang Quanyu, Chinese-side Director of LUCI, Prof. Peteris Pidegovics, Latvian-side Director of LUCI, together with LUCI Secretary laura and Chinese teacher Dongfang visited Confucius Classroom at Daugavpils University.Discuss the issue to set up Chinese major and attend the Chinese certificate awarding ceremony .
In the morning , Prof. Shang Quanyu, Chinese-side Director of LUCI, Prof. Peteris Pidegovics, Latvian-side Director of LUCI have a cordial and friendly conversation with DU Deputy Rector, director of the department of foreign languages Sergejs Poļanskis and secretary Inesa Antonova,the secretary of humanity faculty Eva Kasparenoka. The two sides discussed the detail about how to open a new Chinese major to enhance the Chinese language learning and the promotion of Chinese culture.
After the meeting ,reporters from daugavpils TV sation interview Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof. Peteris Pidegovics,both of them talks about the convenience and importance in learning chinese under the social environment.they also welcome more and more people come the conficius institute to learn Chinese.
In the afternoon,the graduation ceremony held at Confucius Classroom at Daugavpils University.A total of about 40 guests attended the ceremony, including Prof. Shang Quanyu, Prof.Peteris Pildegovics, Sergejs Poļanskis,Eva Kasparenoka,Inesa Antonova, students of Confucius Clasroom, etc.
Firstly Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof.Peteris Pildegovics delivered an opening remark. They summarized the achievements had been made since the Confucius Classroom was established and congratulated the students’ great progress in Chinese, also thanked those who had contributed their efforts to support the development of the Confucius Classroom at Daugavpils University. Sergejs Poļanskis made a speech after that He noted that the Confucius Classroom meets the need of local people to study Chinese and hope the classroom can cultivate more students who knew about China and had enthusiasm for Chinese culture. Then students who have been learning Chinese for the whole year have a freedom speech to talk about their feeling and experience in the learning process.Almost all of them want to say thank you to the Confucius institute to give them a chance to learn Chinese and realize Chinese culture,they are happy to have a wonderful teacher.they also want to say thank you to the university to give them a good platform to enhance themselves.in the end,Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof.Peteris Pildegovics awarded Certificates to the students and congratulated them to finish this year’s Chinese studying.Sergejs Poļanskis awarded some gift to the most outstanding students.
The ceremony ended in a joyful and harmonious atmosphere. The Chinese teachers and students reluctanted at parting, they hugged each other, and made a date to meet in China.
