Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and City University of Hong Kong Delegation Held Experience Exchange Meeting

On December 18, 2017, a hands-on exchange of experience jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and the City University of Hong Kong was successfully held in the Senate Hall of the University of Latvia. Prof. Ye Shi’an, Dr. Xin Xiangang and Dr. Xu Aien, deputy leaders of the business department of City University of Hong Kong, and Dong Fang, Chinese teacher of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, and seven other Chinese teachers from different teaching sites attended the symposium.

The forum kicked off in a friendly, relaxed yet dignified atmosphere. Professor Ye first briefed everyone on the development of Hong Kong City University enrollment in recent years and the advantages of the City University of Hong Kong. He also invited Latvian students to attend the university. Later, Dong Fang teacher also introduced the basic situation of Confucius Institute. Then, the City University delegation of Hong Kong held discussions on a number of topics with teachers and volunteers from the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia: what kind of talents do College of Business requires; enrollment requirements and student enrollment and scholarship levels; The accommodation of business schools in the University; how can Latvia’s students go to China; what kind of scholarships are offered in mainland China; the overall quality of Latvia’s students; the average wage and social status of Latvian people, etc.

Although the symposium took only one and a half hours, we all expressed our opinions and spoke freely. Both sides reached a consensus on many points of view. After the conference, both the delegation from Hong Kong City University extended their sincere thanks to Confucius Institute at Latvia University. Both parties said they have learned valuable experience from this exchange forum and will continue to strengthen friendly exchange of visits in the future.

2017年12月18日，由拉脱维亚大学孔子学院及香港城市大学访问团共同开展的经验交流会在拉脱维亚大学参议厅顺利举行。香港城市大学商学院会计学系教学团队副领导叶世安教授，辛显刚博士和徐爱恩博士，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院汉语教师董芳老师及来自不同教学点的七位汉语教师志愿者出席了座谈会。

座谈会在一片亲切、轻松而不失庄重的氛围中拉开了序幕。叶世安教授首先向大家简要介绍了香港城市大学近年来招生的发展情况以及香港城市大学的优势，并诚邀拉脱维亚的学生前往就读。随后，董芳老师也对拉大孔院的基本情况进行了介绍。然后，香港城市大学访问团就几个主题与拉脱维亚大学孔子学院的教师和志愿者们展开了讨论：香港城市大学商学院需要什么样的人才；其招生要求及留学生的比例和奖学金情况；香港城市大学商学院的住宿情况；拉脱维亚的学生去中国留学的途径；中国大陆提供什么样的奖学金；拉脱维亚学生的整体素质；拉脱维亚人民的平均工资和社会现状等。

虽然座谈会只进行了一个半小时，但大家各抒己见，畅所欲言，双方在很多观点上都达到一致的认识。会后,香港城市大学访问团一行人都对拉大孔院致以了诚挚的感谢，双方都表示从这次交流座谈会中汲取了宝贵的经验，未来会继续加强友好互访。
