Happy Lantern Festival – Experience in Making Chinese Lanterns in the Confucius Class of Rezekne Technology Academy

当地时间2019年2月22日下午六点，雷泽克内大学孔子课堂开展了一场制作中国灯笼的体验活动。这次参加活动的有雷泽克内大学学生以及对中国文化感兴趣的社会人士等共13人。

活动一开始，中国汉语教师志愿者黄天祺介绍了元宵节的由来和习俗，并讲解了中国灯笼的制作方法。接着大家就热情地投入到制作灯笼当中，虽然在制作过程中遇到了一些小小的困难，但是并没有让他们对中华文化的喜爱有丝毫减退。随着灯笼的完成，本次活动进入了第二环节，仿照中国春节的庙会，汉语老师为大家准备了四个小游戏：套圈游戏，说中文，踢毽子和知识竞答。活动参与者们积极参与到各种有意思的小游戏中，并获得了中国结，中国剪纸，手环等精美的奖品。在优美的中国传统音乐声和欢声笑语中，本次活动成功拉下了帷幕。

活动参与者们表示这样的活动不仅能增加对中国文化的认识，更能提高自己的动手动脑能力，希望以后有更多文化活动举行。

At local time 6:00 pm on February 22, 2019, the Confucius Class of Rezekne Technology Academy launched an experience in making Chinese lanterns. A total of 13 people participated in the event, including students from Rezekne Technology Academy and members of the public who are interested in Chinese culture.

At the beginning of the activity, Chinese vonlunteer teacher Huang Tianqi introduced the origin and customs of the Lantern Festival and explained the production methods of Chinese lanterns. Then everyone enthusiastically invested in the production of lanterns. Although they encountered some small difficulties in the production process, they did not let their love of Chinese culture decline. With the completion of the lantern, the event entered the second stage. Following the Chinese New Year’s temple fair, the Chinese teacher prepared four small games for everyone: the rings’ game, speaking Chinese, the kicker and the knowledge contest. Participants actively participated in various interesting mini-games and won beautiful prizes such as Chinese knots, Chinese paper-cuts and bracelets. In the beautiful Chinese traditional music and laughter, this event successfully concluded.

Participants in the event said that such activities not only increase their understanding of Chinese culture, but also enhance their ability to use their brains.  Hope that more cultural events will be held in the future.
