Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Celebration Held at Confucius Institute in Riga

From 21st to 25th of September, 2020, the youngest students at Confucius Institute at University of Latvia were introduced to an important traditional Chinese festival – Mid -Autumn Festival. This year it’s even more special, because the festival fell on the same day as China’s National Day.

The students were shown a short video regarding the legend of the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, they joined classroom activities and tasted mooncakes with different flavours. After the tasting, students expressed some interest in making mooncakes themselves.

The Mid-Autumn-National Day double festival celebrations planted the seeds of Chinese culture in the young hearts of the children, and one day it will take root and blossom.

9月21日-30日，本土汉语教师马笑笑组织拉脱维亚大学孔子学院少儿班学生欢庆中秋-国庆双节。

马笑笑老师分别向几个班的同学们介绍了重要的中国传统节日中秋节，今年是非常特殊的一年，中秋节与国庆节相遇在同一天。

学生们观看了中秋节起源的传说的视频，一起做相关课堂活动，并品尝了不同风味的月饼。学生们纷纷表示，喜欢中国的传统节日文化，并想尝试自己做月饼。

中秋-国庆双节庆祝活动在孩子们幼小的心灵里播下了中国文化的种子，将来有一天会生根发芽开花结果。
