Online Chinese class of Confucius Classroom at Rezekne Academy of Technologies officially launched

At 4 p.m. on November 9th and 13th local time, students in the intermediate and advanced classes of the Confucius Classroom at Rezekne Academy of Technologies ushered in the long-awaited first Chinese class. Chinese teacher Xie Liting undertakes the Chinese class for the intermediate and advanced classes, and the local Chinese teacher Margarita is responsible for the Chinese class for the elementary class.

After several coordinations between Teacher Xie Liting and Karine, the head of the Confucius Classroom at the school, it was finally decided that the Chinese courses of the intermediate and advanced classes would be conducted on the Tencent video conference platform. Students only need to log in to VooV Meeting (Tencent Meeting International Edition) and enter the meeting ID sent by the teacher to attend the class.

In the class, Teacher Xie Liting first shared with the students her experience as a volunteer Chinese Language teacher in Thailand and an online Chinese teacher during the epidemic. She said that as a Chinese teacher, the happiest thing is to see students enjoying the process of learning Chinese, and the most fulfilling thing is to hear students speak Chinese better and better. She hopes to enjoy the fun of learning Chinese with students from Rezekne Academy of Technologies in the future courses.

In the next self-introduction session, when the teacher asked “Why are you learning Chinese”, the students expressed that because they are very interested in Chinese culture, they hope to learn more about China and Chinese culture, and improve their Chinese level through Chinese classes. Later, Teacher Xie Liting played the “China International Promotional Video” and asked the students to talk about how China is in their impressions. Among them, Katya, from the advanced class, believes that China has a long history, a splendid culture, a developed economy and a wealth of people’s lives.She will definitely visit China if she has the opportunity.

In addition, after learning the language knowledge of this lesson, the students also watched the Chinese and English introduction video of the “Double Eleven” shopping carnival together, and learned the hot words related to “Double Eleven”. Teacher Xie Liting focused on “online shopping” in China’s “Four New Inventions” and asked the students to share their online shopping experience, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of online shopping.She integrated hot festivals and Chinese culture into language teaching, hoping that while learning Chinese, students can also have a deeper understanding of the real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.

At the end of the course, the students said that although they could not interact with the teacher in close distance offline, the online Chinese course brought them a brand new experience.They enjoyed the rich and interesting class very much and looked forward to the next Chinese class.

当地时间11月9日和13日下午4时，雷泽克内大学孔子课堂中级班和高级班的学生迎来了期待已久的第一节汉语课。此次中级班和高级班的汉语课由汉语老师谢丽婷承担，初级班汉语课程则由本土汉语教师Margarita负责。

经过谢丽婷老师和该校孔子课堂负责人Karine的多次协调，最终决定中级班和高级班的汉语课程在腾讯视频会议平台进行。学生们只需要登陆VooV Meeting（腾讯会议国际版）并输入老师发送的会议ID即可进入教室上课。

在课堂上，谢丽婷老师首先向学生们分享了自己在泰国担任汉语教师志愿者的经历，及在疫情期间担任线上汉语教师的经历。她表示，作为一名汉语老师，最幸福的就是能看到学生享受学习汉语的过程，最有成就感的就是能听到学生的汉语说得越来越好。她希望在今后的课程中能和雷泽克内大学的同学们一起享受学习汉语的乐趣。

在接下来的自我介绍环节中，当老师问道“你们为什么学习汉语”时，学生们纷纷表示因为自己对中国文化非常感兴趣，希望能通过汉语课堂更多地了解中国，了解中国文化，并且提升自己的汉语水平。随后，谢丽婷老师播放了《中国国际宣传片》，并让同学们谈一谈自己印象中的中国是怎么样的。其中来自高级班的卡佳认为，中国历史悠久、文化灿烂，而且经济发达，人民生活富足，有机会一定会去中国看看。

此外，在学习了本节课的语言知识之后，同学们还一起观看了“双十一”购物狂欢节中英文介绍视频，学习了与“双十一”相关的热词。谢丽婷老师重点介绍了中国“新四大发明”中的“网购”，并让同学们分享了自己的网购经历，一起讨论了网购的优缺点。她将热点节日和中国文化融入到语言教学中，希望同学们在学习汉语的同时，也能更深入地了解真实、立体、全面的中国。

在课程接近尾声时，同学们表示虽然不能在线下和老师近距离地进行互动，但此次网络汉语课程给他们带来了全新的体验，他们非常享受丰富有趣的课堂，并对下一次的汉语课充满了期待。
