Series Activities “Chinese Corner” of Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia
Riga has been thrown to deep autumn in October. However, the “Chinese Corner” activity held by Confucius Institute at University of Latvia triggered by the Chinese boom has continued to heat up. On September 25th and October 9th, the first and second “Chinese Corner” activities were held in a Chinese restaurant in Riga. There were teachers, students and the community interested in Chinese language and cultural exchange to participate in this activity.
“Chinese Corner” was held in the form of tea party with relaxed atmosphere. Friends gathered around a table, discussing a variety of topics. Latvian students asked a series of questions of interest to the presence of Chinese friends such as tourist attractions and the taboos when making friends with Chinese people, which made them a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. Chinese teachers and other Chinese also shared with the students their lives in China, and talked about the Chinese culture, consulting some of the problems living in Latvia. In the collision of cultural exchange, everyone talked happily and had a better understanding of the cultural. laughter erupted from time to time.
Series Activities “Chinese Corner” sponsored by the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, the purpose is to promote cultural exchanges between China and Latvia, to provide students with a platform of improving Chinese speaking ability and enhancing the understanding of Chinese culture. The activity is held every fortnight, has been successfully held twice.
