Book Release Ceremony of “Selected Translation of Tang Poetry” and “In the Far East” successfully held by Confucius Institute at University of Latvia
On August 25, 2022, from 14:30 to 18:30, Confucius Institute at University of Latvia successfully held book release ceremony of “Selected Translation of Tang Poetry” and “In the Far East” in the auditorium of University of Latvia. “Selected Translation of Tang Poetry” by Professor Peteris Pildegovics, Latvian Director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, is the first translation of Tang Poetry in the history of Latvia. It contains 134 poems by 53 famous Tang Dynasty poets and 134 hand-drawn illustrations by Marija Jurso, former secretary of the Confucius Institute. “In the Far East” is the first Latvian translation of the book “My countryfellow Anze” (Jiangxi Education Press, August 2020) written in Chinese by a Latvian Anzelika Smirnova, a former student of Professor Peteris Pildegovics and now a doctoral student at Peking University, describing the great changes in the modern Chinese countryside. Both books are published by Latvian University Press.
More than 100 guests participaeted the book release ceremony, including guests from the Chinese Embassy in Latvia, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Latvian Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Cultural Center in Riga, Xinhua News Agency, the Latvian Chinese Students Association, the Latvian National Library, and the Latvian Ethnographic Museum, Sonkeigo LS International, Shenzhen-Central/Eastern European Economic and Cultural Promotion Association, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, Rezekne Academy of Techonologies, Baltic-German University, Riga 34 Seconddary School, Jekabpils Secondary School, Riga 13 Secondary School, etc. Ivans Nilovs and Anna Vodolagina hosted the celebration.
The celebration lasted for more than 4 hours and consisted of five parts. The first part: Introduction to Selected Translation of Tang Poetry and In the Far East. The authors and translators of the two books, Peteris Pildegovics, Anzelika Smirnova, and Ilze Klotiņa, as well as the witnesses Kristīne Kūla and Shang Quanyu (Anasitasija Galkina interpreted), respectively made comments on the translation and publication of the two books. In addition, the illustrator Marija Jurso introduced the creation of illustrations for Selected Translation of Tang Poetry. Part II: Speech. Chinese Ambassador to Latvia Liang Jianquan, Latvian Ambassador to the United Nations Andrejs Pildegovičs, Vice-Rector of University of Latvia Valdis Segliņš, Vice-Rector of Riga Technical Universit Igors Tipāns, and Director of Riga 34 Secondary School Nataļja Rogaļeva, Director of Yekabupils Secondary School Valerjans Vizulis, Professor of Faculty of Humanities of University of Latvia Leons Taivāns, former Director of Indian Culture Study Center of University of Latvia Sigma Ankrava, delivered speeches respectively, speeking highly of the role of the two books in the cultural exchanges between China and Latvia. The third part: Reading excerpts from Selected Translation of Tang Poetry. Arturs Markots read some poems of “Selected and Translated Tang Poetry” passionately, while a musician played beautiful Latvian national musical instrument, which made the audience feel as if they were in the Tang Dynasty and resonated with the authors of Tang Poetry. The fourth part: singing/dancing performance. Riga 34 Secondary School students gave wonderful performances, sucha as Alisa Ļebedeva sang the Chinese song “Jasmine”, Darja Mednikova played the Chinese song “Thanksgiving” on the flute, Anna Marija Šimanovska performed the Chinese dance “Wind – Flying Flying”, Jesenija Kolosova sang the Chinese song “Quiet Summer”. Anna Ņikitina from Riga No. 1 Secondary School sang the Chinese song “Friends”. Kristīne Semenova and Li Mu from Riga 74 Secondary School recited the Tang poem “On My Journey”. Marija Jurso, the former secretary of the Confucius Institute, danced “Three Stacks of Yangguan”. Part 5: Books as gifts. Professor Peteris Pildegovics signed and presented Selected Translation of Tang Poetry to the guests one by one. Among them, 9 students from Confucius Classroom at Rezekne Academy of Technologies made a special trip from about 300 kilometers away to participate in the ceremomy and were overjoyed at receiving the books as if they had hit the jackpo. “In the Far East” was also enjoyed by the guests. Edvins Gajevskis, Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Section of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia, couldn’t help but read it carefully on the spot when he got the book. “Selected Translation of Tang Poetry” and “In the Far East” will surely be recorded in the history of cultural exchanges between Latvia and China, and have a farreaching enfluence!
拉大孔院成功举办《唐诗选译》和《在那遥远的东方》发布庆典
2022年8月25日14：30-18：30，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院《唐诗选译》和《在那遥远的东方》发布庆典在拉脱维亚大学大礼堂成功举办。拉脱维亚大学孔子学院拉方院长贝德高（Peteris Pildegovics）教授新作《唐诗选译》是拉脱维亚历史上第一部唐诗翻译著作，收录了53位唐代著名诗人的134首诗，每首诗配有孔子学院前秘书玛丽娅（Marija Jurso）手绘的插图。《在那遥远的东方》是贝德高教授的学生、现在北京大学攻读博士学位的安泽（Anzelika Smirnova）所著中文书《老乡安泽》（江西教育出版社，2020年8月）的拉语版，是第一部拉脱维亚人所写的中文著作的拉语翻译版，描写了现代中国农村的巨大变化。这两本书均由拉脱维亚大学出版社出版发行。
莅临本次新书发布庆典的嘉宾共有100多位，来自中国驻拉脱维亚大使馆、拉脱维亚外交部、拉脱维亚文化部、里加中国文化中心、新华社、拉脱维亚留华同学会、拉脱维亚国家图书馆、拉脱维亚民俗露天博物馆、金百客国际公司（Sonkeigo LS International），深圳中东欧经济文化促进会、浙江大学医学院、拉脱维亚大学、里加工业大学、雷泽克内大学、波德大学、里加34中学、叶卡布皮尔斯中学、里加13中学等机构。伊凡（Ivans Nilovs）和安娜（Anna Vodolagina）主持了庆典。
庆典持续4个多小时，分为五个部分。第一部分：《唐诗选译》和《在那遥远的东方》介绍。分别由两本书的作者和译者安泽（Peteris Pildegovics）、贝德高（Anzelika Smirnova）、伊尔泽（Ilze Klotiņa）以及见证者克里斯蒂娜（Kristīne Kūla）、尚劝余（高安娜现场翻译）对两本书的翻译和出版情况做了介绍。此外，插图作者玛丽娅（Marija Jurso）介绍了《唐诗选译》插图的创作。第二部分：致辞。中国驻拉脱维亚大使梁建全、拉脱维亚驻联合国大使小贝（Andrejs Pildegovičs）、拉脱维亚大学副校长赛格林什（Valdis Segliņš）、里加工业大学副校长迪盼斯（Igors Tipāns）、里加34中学校长纳达莉娅（Nataļja Rogaļeva）、叶卡布皮尔斯中学校长维祖里斯（Valerjans Vizulis）、拉脱维亚大学人文学院教授塔伊万斯（Leons Taivāns）、前拉脱维亚大学印度文化研究中心主任安克拉瓦（Sigma Ankrava）分别致辞，对两本书在中拉文化交流中的作用做了高度评价。第三部分：《唐诗选译》节选朗读。马克茨（Arturs Markots）声情并茂地朗读了《唐诗选译》部分诗歌，一位女士弹奏优美的拉脱维亚民族乐器伴乐，使听众如临其境，彷佛回到唐代，与作者产生共鸣。第四部分：表演节目。里加34中学的爱丽莎（Alisa Ļebedeva）演唱中国歌曲《茉莉花》、达莉娅（Darja Mednikova）笛子吹奏中国歌曲《感恩的心》、安娜（Anna Marija Šimanovska）中国舞蹈《风-飞飞》、叶瑟妮娅（Jesenija Kolosova）演唱中国歌曲《宁静的夏天》，里加第1中学的妮克蒂娜（Anna Ņikitina）演唱中国歌曲《朋友》，里加74中学的克里斯蒂娜（Kristīne Semenova）和华人学生李木朗诵唐诗《客中行》，孔子学院前秘书玛丽娅（Marija Jurso）舞蹈《阳关三叠》。第五部分：赠书。贝教授为嘉宾们一一签名赠送《唐诗选译》，其中有9名雷泽克内大学孔子课堂的学生从约300公里外专程赶来参加活动，他们如获至宝，笑逐颜开。《在那遥远的东方》也很快被嘉宾们拿完，中国驻拉脱维亚大使馆经商处秘书艾晓奇（Edvins Gajevskis）拿到书后，忍不住当场仔细阅读起来。《唐诗选译》和《在那遥远的东方》必将载入拉脱维亚和中国文化交流史册，万古流芳！
