Chinese language course was successfully held in Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia
On Sep.24th.2012, the opening ceremony of Chinese language course was successfully held in the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia. The bilateral directors, professor Pēteris Pildegovičs and Professor Huang Mingxi, Chinese volunteer teacher Luo Yi, as well as the office secretary Marija Jurso attended the opening ceremony.
At the beginning, professor Pēteris Pildegovičs presented congratulation to the establishment of Confucius Institute, and then he made a brief introduction about the aim, regulations and courses program of Confucius Institute. Especially he encouraged the Latvian students to learn Chinese well when he talked about the relationship between the two countries in recent years, for the contribution of the further communication. Professor Huang welcomed the students sincerely. He promised that Chinese government would do its utmost to support the Chinese language learners in Latvia. Finally, volunteer teacher Luo Yi had the first lectures to the students of two levels respectively. The opening ceremony was successfully concluded at 21:30.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia is the first nonprofit Chinese language Institution in this area. It was set by Han Ban (Headquarter of Confucius Institutes in Global) and was based on the cooperation with South China Normal University in Guang Zhou. Chinese government will provide the top students scholarship for their study in China each year.
