Shenzhen delegation visits the Confucius Institute of Latvia University

On June 26, 2023, a five-member delegation from Shenzhen visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia,  William Lu,Executive director ShenZhen CEEEC lead the team.

Professor Shang Quanyu, the Chinese director of the Latvian Confucius Institute; Professor Peteris Pildegovics, the foreign director; and Baoru Yang, a volunteer teacher of Confucius Institute, participated in the visit.

During the visit, Shang Quanyu, Director of the Confucius Institute of Latvia University, introduced the biography of Professor Peteris Pildegovics to the delegation. During the sharing process, the comrades in the delegation all respected Professor Peteris Pildegovics. During the exchange and dialogue, the two sides had an in-depth discussion on the development of language education, and compared the differences between domestic dialects and European languages. Dean Hao had a preliminary understanding of the exchange programs in Latvia, and introduced his programs in China and Europe. Based on his relevant language learning experience, Professor Peteris Pildegovics has unique insights into language development, and also imitated the Shanghai dialect to demonstrate. The two sides exchanged ideas and gained inspiration from the collision of ideas during the exchange process. The delegation was very interested in the works of Professor Peteris Pildegovics. Before the end of the conversation, Professor Peteris Pildegovics readily agreed to present “Selected Translations of Tang Poems (Latvian version)” and “My Chinese Story (English version)” to the representatives of Shenzhen delegation, and signed a souvenir book for the delegation.

After the conversation, the Chinese and foreign directors of the Confucius Institute of Latvia University invited the Shenzhen delegation to the old Hongkong Chinese restaurant for lunch. The two sides bid farewell to each other, and the representatives of the Confucius Institute bid farewell to the Shenzhen delegation.

The visit of the Shenzhen delegation to the Confucius Institute of Latvia University has promoted the communication and understanding between the Confucius Institute of Latvia University and domestic institutions, and also promoted the relationship between Latvia and China, which is conducive to the development and continuation of the exchange projects between the two sides. Thanks the visit of the delegation, hoping that the visit of the Shenzhen delegation to the Confucius Institute of Latvia University will further build a bridge of friendship and communication between China and Latvia, even build a bridge in economic and cultural exchanges!

2023年6月26日，深圳市中东欧经济文化促进会代表团由执行理事长吕传真率领拜访了拉脱维亚大学孔子学院。
拉脱维亚孔子学院中方院长尚劝余教授、外方院长贝德高教授等同事接待了代表团。
拉脱维亚大学孔子学院院长尚劝余介绍了孔子学院外方院长贝德高教授的光荣履历，分享了1991年～1997年贝德高教授陪同拉脱维亚总统访问中国的经历，令代表团一行人肃然起敬。交流中，大家对语言教育的发展进行了深入讨论、将国内方言的不同与欧洲语言的差异进行了对比。双方在交流过程中交换了观点，获得了思想碰撞的灵感。代表团一行人对于贝德高教授的著作非常感兴趣，贝德高教授在交谈结束前欣然同意赠送《唐诗选译（拉脱维亚语版）》与《我的中国故事（英语版）》给深圳代表团，并在赠书上为代表团签名留念。《唐诗选译》是拉脱维亚第一部唐诗译作，贝德高教授不仅倾心于唐诗意境之美，还擅长诠释之法，为拉脱维亚读者深入了解和感悟中华古典文化打开了一扇新的窗户，是中拉文化交流的最新成果。
代表团交流了未来举办合作项目的设想。座谈后贝院长尚院长联合邀请代表团进行了午餐，餐叙后昔昔告别，深圳代表团离开里加返程。
深圳市中东欧经济文化促进会（CEEEC）多年来积极推动深圳与中东欧国家-拉脱维亚的科技教育合作、文化艺术交流与经贸投资往来。每年邀请中东欧各国的大学艺术团赴深圳开展文化艺术交流活动，开展公益演出，让更多未到过中国深圳的中东欧国家的青年学子亲见深圳城、触摸深圳城，做两地友好的文化交流者。2015 年 10 月曾邀请拉脱维亚 TEIKSMA 民族舞蹈团赴深圳开展公益演出,舞蹈团参观了深圳大学。
