Welcoming the Winter Solstice with Dumplings: Chinese Corner Event Held by the Faculty of Humanities at University of Latvia 包汉语“饺”，品冬至味——人文学院举办汉语角活动

On the evening of December 22, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Riga time, the fourth Chinese Corner event of the academic year was held at the JiaJiaJia Chinese restaurant by the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Latvia. The event attracted nearly 40 Chinese language enthusiasts and international students from the Faculty of Humanities, Confucius Institute, and various sectors of society. Through activities such as a dumpling-making workshop, the language game “Who is the undercover,” and a mini Chinese-Latvian tongue twister competition, participants collectively created a warm and delightful Winter Solstice night.

After enjoying the dumplings handmade by each participant, the event approached its conclusion. Professor He Dong, Director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia from Chinese side, Ms. Tao Liping, Professor Agita Baltgalve, the head of the Chinese department in the Faculty of Humanities at University of Latvia, Karina Jermaka, Chinese teacher and Predisent of Latvian China Alumni Association, and Chinese teacher Bai Bingyu jointly extended their wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. In the upcoming year 2024, the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Corner organizers will continue to devote themselves to providing diverse language exchange activities to stimulate students’ interest and create an engaging and authentic Chinese learning environment for Chinese language enthusiasts in Latvia.

里加时间2023年12月22日下午六点到八点，拉脱维亚大学人文学院本学年第四场汉语角活动在加佳家中餐馆举行。活动吸引了来自人文学院、孔子学院以及社会各界近40位汉语爱好者和留学生参加，在包饺子工作坊、语言游戏“谁是卧底”和中拉绕口令大比拼等一系列活动中，参与者共同营造了一个温馨而愉快的冬至之夜。在享受了每位参与者亲手制作的饺子后，活动接近尾声，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院中方院长何东教授、陶丽萍女士、拉脱维亚大学人文学院文专业负责人鲍葛薇教授、汉语教师卡琳娜老师、白冰玉老师共同祝愿大家圣诞快乐、新年快乐。在即将到来的2024年，孔子学院和汉语角将继续致力于以多样的语言交流活动激发学生兴趣、为拉脱维亚汉语爱好者提供有趣真实的中文学习环境。
