Night of Lantern Festival Stories: Faculty of Humanities at LU Hosts the First Chinese Corner Event of 2024灯下元宵甜，上元故事长 ——人文学院举办新年首次汉语角活动

On the afternoon of February 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Faculty of Humanities at University of Latvia hosted its inaugural Chinese Corner event of the new year. The event drew over twenty Chinese language enthusiasts and international students from Faculty of Humanities, Confucius Institute, and various sectors of society. Activities included “Tracing the Origins of the Festival,” “Guessing Lantern Riddles,” “Tasting Yuanxiao and Chinese Snacks,” “Bilingual Lantern Festival Storytelling in Chinese and Latvian,” and “Story Exhibitions.” Participants shared their favorite Chinese legends or historical stories, engaging in discussions, translations, and lively interactions. Some students expressed that it was their first time tasting yuanxiao (sweet rice dumplings), which they found delicious, eagerly anticipating the next “delicious Chinese festival.” The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Latvia pledges to foster student interest through through a variety of language exchange activities and provide an engaging and authentic Chinese learning environment for Chinese language enthusiasts in Latvia.

里加时间2024年2月29日下午五点到七点，拉脱维亚大学人文学院新年第一场汉语角活动在主楼402教室举行。活动吸引了来自人文学院、孔子学院以及社会各界二十多位汉语爱好者和留学生参加，活动包括“节日之追溯”、“灯谜竞猜”、“品元宵，尝小吃”、“中拉双语元宵故事会”、“故事展示”等环节，参与者向彼此分享了自己感兴趣的中国传说或历史故事，互相探讨切磋，研究翻译，现场烧脑又热闹。活动后部分学生也表示这是他们第一次品尝汤圆，口感很好，大家已经在期待下一个“美味的中国节日”了。拉脱维亚大学人文学院将继续致力于以多样的语言交流活动激发学生兴趣、为拉脱维亚汉语爱好者提供有趣真实的中文学习环境。
