Farewell Ceremony was Held by Embassy of PRC and Confucius Institute at University of Latvia

On May 23rd of 2015, Embassy of PRC and Confucius Institute at University of Latvia held a farewell ceremony for all Chinese volunteer teachers at Chinese restaurant in Riga. The Ambassador and wife Mr. Yang Guoqiang and Mrs. Wang Yi, the Counselor Mr. Li Tao, the Consul Zeng Fuhua, two Directors of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof. Peteris Pildegovics, two professional Chinese teachers and eight Chinese Volunteer teachers got together to review experiences and achievements during this year.
The Ambassador Mr. Yang Guoqiang delivered a farewell speech at first. He expressed his respect and gratitude for all the Chinese teachers. He said, all the teachers came to Latvia from far to teach Chinese and spread Chinese culture, which deserves respect; all the teachers made great contribution for language spreading and communication of two cultures, which deserves gratitude. And then Mr. Yang wished all the teachers to have a bright future after going back to China.
Latvian Director of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia Prof. Peteris Pildegovics maded a speech next, he reviewed the friendship between China and Latvia in brief, and praised the development of Chinese Teaching in Latvia. Then Prof. expressed his sincere thanks to the work that all the Chinese teachers did during this year, and made a good wish for the teachers.
After the sincere address, everyone made a toast for gains of past and hope of future. The feast was full of deep gratitude, good wish and the emotion of unwilling to part. And all the participants took a group photo to mark the last reunion at last.
After the farewell ceremony, two Directors of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia Prof. Shang Quanyu and Prof. Peteris Pildegovics, two professional Chinese teachers and six Chinese Volunteer teachers held a summing-up meeting for 2014-2015 school year. Prof. Shang Quanyu made a summary about the work of this year at first. He enumerated some excellent events and affirms the achievements that Confucius Institute did, and discussed how to improve the management of Confucius Institute in the future. And then, eight teachers summarized and communicated the experience of teaching and activities organization, reviewed the gain and loss, all of which left precious information and advice for future development of Confucius Institute.
