To Tell or Not to Tell? Chinese Corner Movie Night at Faculty of Humanities at LU 告诉她？别告诉她——人文学院汉语角观影活动落幕

Riga, Latvia – October 26, 2023 – The second Chinese Corner event at the Faculty of Humanities at LU concluded on October 26th, 2023. The event brought together 27 Chinese language enthusiasts and Chinese international students from various educational institutions in Riga, including Confucius Institutes. The audience gathered to watch the film “The Farewell(Chinese title 别告诉她-Don’t Tell Her),” directed by Wang Ziyi.

Following the screening, attendees engaged in lively discussions about the conflicts in family values between Eastern and Western cultures, cultural differences in marriage and funeral customs, and the recent celebration of the Chinese Double Ninth Festival-Chongyang Festivel, which featured prominently in the film. Many students enjoyed the film, giving it high ratings of 8 to 10, expressing their appreciation for its thought-provoking content.

The Chinese Corner remains committed to organizing diverse language exchange activities that stimulate students’ interests and provide an engaging and authentic Chinese-language environment for Chinese language enthusiasts in Latvia.

里加时间2023年10月26日下午六点至八点，拉脱维亚大学人文学院本学年第二场汉语角活动在人文学院主楼431教室举行。本次活动上，来自社会各界以及孔子学院各教学点的27位汉语爱好者和中国留学生观看了由王子逸导演的影片《别告诉她》。观影结束后，大家就片中呈现的中西方家庭观念冲突、婚丧文化差异、以及刚刚过去的中国重阳节进行了热烈讨论。许多学生为电影打出了8分甚至10分的高分，表达自己对影片的欣赏。汉语角将继续致力于以多样的语言交流活动激发学生兴趣、为拉脱维亚汉语爱好者提供有趣真实的中文环境。
