2019 Seminar on Chinese Language and Culture for Latvian Delegation was Successfully Held

为了落实一带一路倡议，进一步推动中拉关系，培育中拉友好使者，2019年7月8日-21日，在中国商务部的大力支持下，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院和中国驻拉脱维亚使馆经商处联合组织的拉脱维亚汉语言和中国文化研修班在北京国际汉语学院成功举办。此次研修班学员由25名拉脱维亚政府官员、专家、学者及企业管理人员等组成。为期两周的研修班活动丰富多彩，包括专题讲座（中国基本国情介绍、中国改革开放相关政策、实用汉语、中国文化等讲座课程以及剪纸、八段锦、中国结等传统文化体验课程）、考察座谈（在北京和西安考察著名企事业单位并举行座谈）、文化体验（参观长城、天坛、故宫、兵马俑等）。通过本次研修，学员不但学习了基础汉语，体验了中国文化，而且更广泛、更客观地了解了中国，以期共同致力于加深中国与拉脱维亚的友好双边合作关系，为中国与拉脱维亚的进一步交流与合作打下坚实的基础。

In order to implement the “Belt & Road” initiative, to promote Sino-Latvian relations, to train the messengers for Sino-Latvian friendship, from July 8 to 21, 2019, a special seminar on the Chinese language and culture, sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and co-organized by Confucius Institute at University of Latvia & Economic-Commercial Division of Embassy, was successfully held at the Beijing International Chinese College (BICC) for the Latvian delegation. The 25-person delegation from Latvia consisted of officials, experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and the creative industries. The 2 week seminar included three parts: Lectures (including Basic Condition of China, China’s Reform and Opening Up Policy, Practical Chinese, Chinese Culture and experiencing Chinese culture such as Paper-cutting, Ba Duan Jin and Chinese-knotting, etc.),Meeting and Discussions (visiting famous companies and educational institutions, and other places in Beijing and Xi’an),Cultural Experiences (including the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, Forbidden city in Beijing, Terra Cotta Warriors in Xi’an, etc.).Through this seminar, the participants have not only experienced Chinese language and culture, but also known more about China, so as to promote the cooperation between China and Latvia and lay a solid foundation for further exchanges and cooperation.
