Virtual and Non-Virtual, Students of Faculty of Humanities Enjoys the Mid-Autumn Moon Together

From September 21^st to 23^rd, 2021 local time, the teachers and students of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia spent the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival together. On the air, Chinese teacher Bai Bingyu offered various experience tour for each class. Sophomore students explored Mid-Autumn Festival customs and food through situational story. While learning about the history of the development of traditional Chinese musical instruments, they watched the “Mid-Autumn Wonderful Tour” program on Henan Satellite TV and experienced the wonderful sounds of classical musical instruments. The juniors joined Bilibili’s “Flower and Full Moon Party”, walked among the ancient homes and alleys, and experienced the lively atmosphere of ancient folk celebrating festivals. Graduate students watched the film “Face Searching Notice “, practiced Chinese through subtitles translating, and battled Chinese poems with teacher Bai. Both students and teacher learned the classic lines – 欲折月中桂，持为寒者薪, meaning I really want to go to the Moon Palace to break some laurel branches and give them to the poor in the world. At the same time, in the classroom at the University of Latvia, Teacher Karina also worked with the students to do handicrafts, taste desserts, and enjoy the concert, celebrating a rare “non-virtual” Mid-Autumn Festival together.

当地时间2021年9月21日至23日，拉脱维亚大学人文学院师生共同度过了中国传统佳节——中秋节。在线上，汉语教师白冰玉为各个班级设计了不同的体验形式。大二学生通过情景体验探索中秋习俗与美食。在了解中国传统乐器发展史的同时，观看河南卫视《中秋奇妙游》节目，感受各种古典乐器的美妙音色。大三学生则观看了哔哩哔哩《花好月圆会》的精彩片段，身临其境地游走于古宅古巷之中，体验古代民间欢度佳节的热闹氛围。研究生则欣赏了中秋题材微电影《寻脸启示》，通过翻译字幕练习汉语，并与白老师月下斗诗，师生共同学习了“欲斫月中桂，持为寒者薪”等诗句。与此同时，在拉脱维亚大学教室内，卡琳娜老师也与学生一起做手工，品甜点，看晚会，共同度过了一个难得的“实体”中秋。
