The 11th Council of the Confucius Institute of the University of Latvia was successfully held

On 23 November 2022, the Confucius Institute of the University of Latvia and South China Normal University held their first council meeting, which was chaired by Ms. Tan Weihong, Director of the Confucius Institute Management Office of South China Normal University, and the two deans of the Confucius Institute of the University of Latvia, Pēteris Pildegovics and Shang Quanyu, were invited to participate. The highlights of the Council were divided into two parts, firstly, South China Normal University announced the results of the selection of the new Chinese Director and the list of the new Board of Directors, and LU made a report on its work.

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Yang Zhongmin and Vice President Ina Druviete introduced the participants of this meeting from the Chinese side and the LU side respectively; in the second session, Deputy Director Qin Honglei and Director Alina reported on the selection of the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at LU; in the third session, President Pēteris Pildegovics gave a summary of the work of Confucius Institute in 2022, and President Pēteris Pildegovics first gave a summary of the teaching work. In the second part, the cultural activities were carried out. In 2022, although some activities could not be carried out offline due to the epidemic, many activities were carried out in various forms, such as the Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. In terms of cultural exchange, a three-member delegation from the Confucius Institute visited the Confucius Institute at Tallinn University in October, the Confucius Institute in Sibiu in November and the Confucius Institute in Vilnius in December, and invited Jesse Appell to hold a Chinese cultural talk show from 5 to 7 December. President Shang Quanyu to make plans and prospects for the work of the Confucius Institute in 2023: President Shang hopes to carry out more interesting activities on top of the regular activities; to promote the entry of Chinese classes into the credit system and the localization of Chinese language teaching materials, and to publish a history of Chinese language education in Latvia; to strengthen teacher training for volunteers and to increase the recruitment of professional teachers; and to increase the number of teaching points and Confucius Institutes in Latvia. Finally, new teaching points and Confucius classes can be added.

The meeting communicated between South China Normal University and Latvian university, strengthened cooperation and provided a boost to the teaching of Chinese in Latvia.

2022年11月23日，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院与华南师范大学共同召开了第十一届理事会，会议由华南师范大学孔子学院管理办公室主任谭伟红女士主持，拉大孔院两位院长贝德高和尚劝余应邀参加。此次理事会的重点内容分为两个部分，首先是华南师范大学公布了拉大孔院新任中方院长遴选结果、新理事会名单，拉大孔院进行了工作汇报。

会议开始时，杨中民副校长和Ina Druviete副校长分别介绍了华师方和拉大方本次会议的参与人员；在第二个环节中，秦洪雷副主任与Alina处长汇报了拉大孔院遴选中方院长的情况；第三个环节中，由贝德高院长对2022年拉大孔院的工作进行了总结，贝院长首先就教学工作进行了总结：介绍了拉大孔院师资力量及教学网点的具体情况；教学辅助资料出版；活动、考试、会议以及国际学术会议的开展；第二部分为文化活动的开展，在2022年，虽有疫情的影响，一些活动无法在线下开展，但还是以各种形式开展了许多活动，如线上开展的春节和元宵活动、线上线下相结合展开的中秋节和孔院日活动、以及与华师共同举办的冬令营活动、同时，还举办了国际中文日活动及武术锦标赛等，在文化交流方面，拉大孔院一行三人分别于10月访问塔林大学孔子学院，11月赴锡比乌孔子学院、12月赴维尔纽斯孔子学院，并邀请艾杰西于12月5-7日举行中国文化脱口秀交流活动。由尚劝余院长对2023年拉大孔院的工作进行了计划与展望：尚院长希望在固定常规活动的展开的基础上开展更多有趣的活动；同时能够推进中文课进入进入学分体系以及本土化汉语教材，并出版拉脱维亚中文教育史；在志愿者培训方面，加强对志愿者的教师培训及加大专业教师招募工作；在最后，能够新增教学点及孔子课堂。

此次会议沟通了华南师范大学与拉脱维亚大学，加强合作，为拉脱维亚汉语教学提供了助力。
