Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Latvia and the representative of young Sinologists attended the World Chinese Language Conference 拉脱维亚大学孔子学院院长与青年汉学家代表参加世界中文大会

Karina Jermaka, Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia】The first World Chinese Language Conference was held at the National Convention Center in Beijing, China from December 7-9, 2023. With the theme of “Chinese for the World, Openness into the Future”, the conference is hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the China International Education Foundation and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching.

Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of The State Council, delivered a keynote speech at the conference. Ding Xuexiang said that language is a tool of communication, a carrier of culture, and a bridge to promote exchanges and dialogues among human civilizations. Chinese is the language of China and also the language of the world. He hopes to build an open and inclusive international Chinese education structure and work with all parties to run Confucius Institutes and other Chinese language projects. Minister Huai Jinpeng and Vice Minister Chen Jie of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China attended and presided over the main forums. The conference held more than 10 international forums and international Chinese education exhibitions, attended by about 2,000 representatives, including heads of education authorities and institutions from more than 160 countries, heads of international language and culture promotion agencies and international organizations, experts, scholars, business representatives and diplomatic envoys in China.

He Dong, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, and Karina Jermaka, young sinologist at the University of Latvia, as representatives of Latvia, participated in the two main forums and several sub-forums such as “The Future Development of Confucius Institutes” and “the First Forum for the World Young Sinologists”, which increased their knowledge and broadened their horizons and made many friends in the field of international Chinese education. Their participation in this conference will contribute to the further development of Chinese education in Latvia.

【拉脱维亚大学孔子学院讯 通讯员、摄影：何东 卡琳娜】2023年12月7-9日，首届世界中文大会在中国北京国家会议中心盛大举行。大会以“中文服务世界，开放引领未来”为主题，由中华人民共和国教育部主办，由中外语言交流合作中心、中国国际中文教育基金会和世界汉语教学学会承办。

中共中央政治局常委、国务院副总理丁薛祥在京出席2023世界中文大会，并发表主旨讲话。丁薛祥表示，语言是交流的工具、文化的载体，是促进人类文明交流对话的桥梁。中文是中国的语言，也是世界的语言。他希望构建开放包容的国际中文教育格局，与各方一道办好孔子学院等中文项目。中华人民共和国教育部怀进鹏部长和陈杰副部长出席并主持主论坛。大会举办10余场国际论坛和国际中文教育展，来自中外160多个国家的教育主管部门和教育机构负责人，国际语言文化推广机构和国际组织负责人，有关专家学者、企业代表、驻华使节等约2000名代表参会。

拉脱维亚大学孔子学院院长何东与拉脱维亚大学青年汉学家卡琳娜·叶尔玛卡（Karina Jermaka）作为拉脱维亚代表，全程参加了两个主论坛和“孔子学院的未来发展”“首届世界青年汉学家”等多个分论坛，增长了知识，开阔了眼界，结识了许多国际中文教育领域的中外朋友。他们参加本次大会将有助于拉脱维亚中文教育事业的进一步发展。
