Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia attended Cesis city event 拉脱维亚大学孔子学院采西斯市宣讲活动成功举行

At three o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, April 15, 2024, representatives of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia attended the lecture “Understanding China, Understanding the Confucius Institute” at the branch of the University of Latvia in Cesis. Two branch representatives from the University of Latvia in Cesis, Ms. Mārīte Raudziņa and Ms. Tatjana Cimbaļuka, three Middle School principals of Cesis, Ms. Ina Gaiķe and Ms. Ija Baumane, and President of the Latvian Triathlon Society, Mr. Aigars Strauss, a representative of Bērzaine Middle School in Cesis, Ms. Elita Rudzīte, Cesis City Self-goverment representive Ms. Iveta Liepiņa and the person in charge of several teaching points in Cesis Ms. Santa Zvirbule all attended today’s lecture.

Firstly, the two directors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia – Professor He Dong from Chinese side and Professor Pēteris Pildegovičs from Latvian side – started with the “Understanding China” introduction – presenting two different videos and pointing out the beautiful scenery of mainland China and the development of high-speed railways on the video screen. Secondly, the two directors shared the story with everyone about the development Confucius Institute at University of Latvia in “Understanding the Confucius Institute” section. While Professor He Dong and Professor Pēteris Pildegovičs were introducing the history and development of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, they also explained the reasons and benefits of learning Chinese language. Towarding to the end of the lecture “Understanding China, Understanding the Confucius Institute” the participants of this event asked the two directors several questions in order to gain a deeper understanding of how to begin a Chinese language lessons in Cesis City. Confucius Institute at University of Latvia as a thankful gift for this wonderful event have send some interesting books to all participants.

After the lecture, Ms. Santa Zvirbule invited everyone to drink coffee and tea, try some Latvian snacks, and have a jolly time. We hope that Cesis city would give and opportunity to the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia to start Chinese language teaching for children and adults, so that people would be able to understand culture, history and traditions.

【拉脱维亚大学孔子学院讯 通讯员 高安娜 摄影 陶丽萍】2024年4月15日下午三点，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院领导与工作人员一行四人，在拉脱维亚大学采西斯分校举行“了解中国，了解孔院”讲座。拉脱维亚大学采西斯分校代表Mārīte Raudziņa和Tatjana Cimbaļuka，中学校长Ina Gaiķe和Ija Baumane，拉脱维亚铁人三项赛学会会长 Aigars Strauss, Bērzaines中学代表Elita Rudzīte，市政府代表Iveta Liepina及几个教学点的负责人Santa Zvirbule等参加讲座。

拉脱维亚大学孔子学院拉方院长贝德高教授与中方院长何东教授通过两个短视频展示了“了解中国”部分——中国风光和中国高铁；随后两位院长宣讲“了解孔院”部分。讲座介绍了拉脱维亚大学孔子学院的历史和发展，阐明学习中文和普通话的理由和好处。之后的交流问答环节，就与会者的许多问题，两位院长耐心细致地作答，简明扼要地解释了开设汉语教学点和中文课程的具体事项。最后，两位院长代表学院向与会者赠送了一批书籍。本次讲座与交流活动取得圆满成功。

拉脱维亚大学孔子学院计划在采西斯市开设新的汉语教学点，此举将给该市有意学习中国语言和文化的大中小学生、幼儿园小朋友以及社会人士提供很好的机会。
